When to Conceive a Girl?

I’m often get email questions entitled ‘when to conceive a girl’ and I think what people mean by that, is when is the best time of day or month to try to conceive, when that person wants to have a baby girl.

To maximize your chances of conceiving a girl, the timing here is crucial. The theory behind all of this involves giving the X or girl-producing sperm the best chance possible to fertilize the egg rather than the Y or boy sperm.

By definition, the boy sperm doesn’t live as long, is lazier and weaker then the female sperm. So this whole timing process relies only exploiting the weaknesses of the Y’s to minimize the possibility that one of them will fertilize the egg. The girl-producing sperm is much slower than the male, but in terms of overall life-span, this is a big advantage. In practical terms it means that you can have intercourse much earlier in the fertility cycle and the female sperm will hang around until the egg is ready to be fertilized.

When to conceive a baby girl

As I said earlier, the timing is the most important thing with this, and the ideal timing to initiate intercourse is 3 – 4 days before you are due to ovulate. After intercourse has taken place however, you must abstain from sex until you are sure you are no longer in the fertile portion of your cycle. This is to ensure that a fresh group of sperm, containing more males, isn’t introduced to spoil the assignment.

To conceive a girl it is crucial you know when you are at the 3 – 4 day stage before ovulation. Using your own dates 2 weeks from your last period is of no use here, neither is taking your temperature, you need to be much more accurate than this. You need a very accurate ovulation predictor such as the ones that use saliva for the tests, because they will give you a very accurate warning of when ovulation is approaching and you can test very often.

Other things such as the foods to eat when trying to conceive a girl can play a part, your diet can help create and acidic vaginal environment that will benefit the female sperm. In the grand scheme of things though, what to eat when trying to conceive a girl is far less important than the timing issue so don’t get too hung up on it.

So if ever you are asked ‘when to conceive a girl’ you’ll know that timing and the 3 – 4 day window of opportunity is the single most important factor if this is the route you decide to choose. For more options though, I would suggest visiting the website of Ashley Spencer. Ashley has studied all the different methods for conceiving a girl and from them she’s developed her own program the boasts an amazing 95% success rate for conceiving a girl.

Diet for Conceiving a Girl Research

Diet for Conceiving a Girl Research

I’ve been asked on numerous occasions if there is a specific diet for conceiving a girl or boy that will help couples trying to conceive a baby of specific gender. The good news for people looking into this, is that recent research carried out by Oxford and Exeter Universities in the UK, found that what women eat prior to getting pregnant, did have an affect on the sex of their babies.

The main findings of this study included the following tips for following a diet for conceiving a baby girl:

  • Breakfast no Tiffany – women who skipped breakfast were statistically more likely to give birth to a girl, whereas those women who ate breakfast regularly were more likely to have boys. The experts did not recommend skipping breakfast however, although they did suggest having a lighter start to the day by eating nuts and fruit.
  • Less calories equals more girls – women who consumed fewer calories in the period leading up to conception stood a higher chance of becoming pregnant with a girl. The difference in the number of calories consumed was only around 130 (2,413 for a boy v’s 2,283 for a girl) but over 55% of those on the higher diet had boys.
  • Skip the cereals – cereal intake seemed to increase the chances of having a male baby. Part of the study found that women who ate more than 1 bowl of cereal a day were less likely to conceive a girl than those who ate less than 1 bowl of cereal a week.
  • Keep well balanced – the experts recommended ensuring you get enough magnesium and calcium in your diet to maximize your chances of conceiving a baby girl.

On the whole the research shows that diets for conceiving a girl do work if you are prepared to look carefully at what you eat for a period of time before you become pregnant. The suggested minimum period for following these tips was 2 or 3 months before conception.

If you don’t like the sound of this diet for conceiving a girl, and you are still looking for alternatives, you could do worse than to take a look at a website I have visited many times, run by a lady called Ashley Spencer. Ashley has been looking into how to conceive a girl for many years now and has developed a program that can claim almost a 95% success rate for conceiving a girl or a boy.
